The 2026 NBA Draft is in the books, and Boston walked away with a pair of intriguing combo forwards. Here's how each pick grades out.

Round 1, Pick 27 β€” Chris Cenac Jr. (Grade: B-)

A 19-year-old forward out of Houston, Cenac Jr. averaged 9.5 PPG 7.9 RPG as a freshman. He profiles as a lanky three-point shooter and switchable defender with real upside β€” but taking him at 27 felt like a bit of a reach when better-fit options were on the board. The tools are there; the polish isn't yet.

Round 2 β€” Dillon Mitchell (Grade: B+)

The 22-year-old out of Saint John's posted 8.0 PPG 6.3 RPG. He's a high-energy athlete who attacks the glass, though the jumper and free-throw stroke remain works in progress. Excellent value this late in the draft.

The Verdict

Boston came out of the weekend with two combo forwards β€” but arguably ignored their thinnest position. Center depth went unaddressed, and Henri Veesaar was still on the board when the C's made their calls. Solid swings on talent, a questionable read on team need.
